Pledge Of Allegiance Spanish Recitation Uproars Wisconsin

An uproar has begun in a high school in Wisconsin over The Pledge of Allegiance being broadcast in Spanish over the Intercom. Once a year at Edgerton High School Spanish classes have recited the pledge. This year a parent got hot under the collar.

On March 11 the daily announcements at Edgerton High School had the Spanish class reciting the Pledge of Allegiance as it has for many years. It only happens one day per school year but this year is causing a fuss.Parents are demanding that the Spanish teacher, the principal and the superintendent be fired over reciting the Pledge in a language other than English. On April 28 the issue will be front and center at the school board meeting.

The group against the once a year Spanish version have gone so far as to physically threatened Dr. Norman Fjelstad for what they believe.

I don't agree with the Pledge being cited in Spanish either. However, I think it's a little extreme to demand the firing of the Spanish teacher, principal, and superintendent over something that only happens once a year. The parents have every right to demand a change in policy but IMO, they don't have the right to demand the ending of careers over this. For all we know, the teacher, principal, and superintendent are an asset to their profession and are great folks.

let me see , some simple math . 30,000,000 Illegals subtract -110,000 Latino troops = 29890000 Illegals living good .
Now when i was in the Army i had 2 mexicans and 1 columbian in my platoon.
The whole company had maybe 6 total . And this was state side duty. In the Nam i ran into a few but not many for sure . So what i getting at is the fiqures they put in that article does tell the whole story .
The story made me laugh just reading that the "Dairyland" got upset on a immigration type issue .

The Spanish speakers that were in my company, including my 1st Sgt, were from Purto Rico and held United States Citizenship and spoke ENGLISH. I can not recall a pledge or any functions in spanish.

I agree USA, and I also agree that reciting it in espanol is a slap in the face to every American, especially our active troops and vets.

I have a simple question WHY? Why do they need to say the pledge in Spanish? Why does the National Anthem need to be sung in Spanish?

Saying the pledge or singing any of our patriotic songs should be about showing respect and loyalty to the United States of America. I would think that if they are proud enough to say the pledge or sing any of these songs; they would be proud enough to say them as they were written, in English.
