17-year-old held in jail on $500,000 bond after being charged with attempted murder

Norwich Bulletin
NORWICH-- A 17-year-old city teen charged with attempted murder was ordered held on $500,000 bond Monday, two days after police said she tried to kill her ex-boyfriend.
Odalia Martinez, of 665 N. Main St., shuffled before Judge Hilary Strackbein to her mother Norma's side Monday in Norwich Superior Court, her ankles and wrists shackled.
Her mother was in tears as the judge read Martinez her rights, translated to Spanish through an interpreter.
City police were called to the top floor of 665 N. Main St. at 1:53 a.m. Saturday, for the report of a person bleeding.
Police said they found Sargio Mullolema lying on the floor with stab wounds to his head and body.
Mullolema was listed in fair condition Monday night at The William W. Backus Hospital.
Martinez initially was transported to the hospital in a "semi-conscience state," police said. Norma Martinez said Sunday they had all been drinking.
During an interview with police later Saturday, Odalia Martinez confessed to the stabbing, Norwich police said.
In court Monday, a bail commissioner said Odalia Martinez had been in Connecticut only two weeks, moving here from New Jersey.
She had moved from El Salvador a year ago, he said.
Norwich Police detective Lt. Timothy Menard said the three-bedroom apartment where the crime occurred contained about eight beds.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a branch of the Department of Homeland Security, was notified of the possibility the residents are in this country illegally.
Martinez is expected to return to Norwich Superior Court Oct. 27. A protective order will bar any contact with Mullolema should Martinez post bond.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn
