NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a man wanted on two counts of vehicular homicide.

Metro police said that 27-year-old Omar Herrera Jimenez was speeding and driving drunk when his car crashed into a utility pole in June 2006, killing both of his passengers: 21-year-old Jose Herra Virgen and 28-year-old Jorge Herra.

Efforts to locate and arrest Jimenez, a suspected illegal alien, had been unsuccessful.

But police said they stopped him Wednesday driving 82 miles per hour in a 70-mile-per-hour zone on Interstate 24.

Authorities placed a federal hold on Jimenez until his immigration status can be verified.
