MEXICO CITY — A 20-year-old woman who made international headlines when she accepted the job as police chief in a violent Mexican border town was fired Monday for apparently abandoning her post after receiving death threats.

Marisol Valles Garcia was given permission to travel to the United States last week for personal matters but failed to return to Praxedis G. Guerrero as agreed, according to a statement from the city.

“In the absence of (Valles Garcia’s) presence on the agreed-upon day and since there was no notification of a need to extend the period of her absence, the mayor has decided to remove her from office,â€

She's sitting pretty in Texas right about now, claiming she needs to stay here because she'll be murdered in Mexico (probably true). Next she'll need her child, her baby's daddy, her mother and father, aunt, uncle and cousins to join her.

I heard she is in Texas trying to squirt out an anchor baby before she is deported.

On Friday, Chihuahua state Human Rights Commission official Gustavo de la Rosa Hickerson said Valles Garcia’s relatives and friends told him she had received telephone threats against her life the previous weekend.
Any person who has never had accesses to proper Law Enforcement education, graduates from a police training academy and has never worked in a field of Law Enforcement should have never been allowed to hold such a high ranking policing position.

Garcia stated to an American news reporter she has never shot a weapon nor did she carry a weapon while performing police duties. Her roles were to try and calm the hideous crimes by talking with people in different Communities of the crime infested town, and her mission was not to use violence against the cartels.

I am sure any person who has ever been a part of enforcing laws has been threatened by crime offenders for one reason or another. This does not give reasons to walk away from job duties, which shows weakness and gives criminals more power to perform even greater acts of crime.

Overall, what Mexico must do is to declare war against those who continues to disobey the Country laws and request national assistance to gain back control over the crime ridden Country. Also round up all escapees, take them back to the Country, so they can pay for their crimes through work programs setup for criminals.

Garcia was an easy target for drug cartels from the beginning, due to her lack of knowledge’s of promoting policing strategies.

Ditto that! This was a train wreck from the very beginning and was bound for failure! She had no business whatsoever being involved in law enforcement in any capacity, let alone the chief of police! I suspect she took this job for other reasons, such as an excuse to run to the United States and seek asylum, as soon as the first death threats were lobbed at her.

NoBueno, I must agree!! Something does sound a little fishy about Garcia actions. I would not be surprised at all if we hear in the next few days she may have skipped town for total different reasons. I will not go into further details of my thoughts...We'll just wait and learn the outcome of the situation without speculations.
