Police Issue Arrest Warrant in Henderson Woman's Murder

The hunt is on for the killer of a Henderson woman who was brutally murdered New Year's Day. Henderson Police now say Mariela Moreno's boyfriend is the prime suspect, and they say he's on the run in Mexico.

Moreno's sister in obviously upset Vsidro Munoz fled Las Vegas. She says she never believed Munoz's story and that he should have been a suspect since the beginning of January.

Now police agree with her.

Munoz originally told the police he dropped Moreno off at her house New Year's morning and never heard from her again. Police say Munoz made several cell phone calls that night. They traced the cell tower records and placed him near the scene of the crime where Moreno's body was found.

He claims he was never there.

They also found Moreno's purse and Mexican passport in Munoz' car. They also discovered a blond hair on her body, possibly one of Munoz's dyed hairs.

Moreno's sister Monica says she can still see Mariela's smile and knows her killer is alive and well in Mexico.

"I feel so bad. I wanted justice," she said.

Moreno's friends call Munoz a very obsessive and possessive boyfriend. According to police, he confessed to family that he found her body and went to Mexico City because of guilt. This after he changed his story claiming they were kidnapped.

Police do not have DNA or fingerprints for Munoz, but because of the cell phone records and family confessions, they feel they can charge him with the murder, if he can be found hiding out somewhere in the largest city in the world.

We also had heard an *ex* boyfriend may have had connections. What happened there?

Police also cleared an ex-boyfriend from any wrongdoing. He was suspected of abusing Moreno in the past, causing the break up. It was a red flag, but that night his cell phone records place him in a different part of town, and numerous witnesses say he was no where near Mariela Moreno.
