Police link rape suspect to violent gang

CONCORD, N.C. -- Police say a rape suspect might be in the Cabarrus County area.

Authorities are looking for 34-year-old Juan Carlos Martinez, who is accused of kidnapping and raping a 12-year-old girl at the Stony Point apartment complex in Mint Hill last month.

The incident was the second time Martinez kidnapped and victimized the same girl, police say. They have also linked him to the violent MS 13 Street gang.

Investigators believe Martinez may have shaved his head since they took his photo, but he is said to still have a mustache.

A man linked to a violent gang is believed to be in Cabarrus County after raping a girl in Mint Hill.
