Thread: WHAT NEXT?????????

One of the questions I have heard repeatedly on the talk radio shows is:

What do we do after the tea parties? How do we keep the momentum going until election day.

One of the objects of the tea parties is to put the president and members of congress on notice.

We need someone with computer savvy to set up a site and entitle it something like TAKING AMERICA BACK.

There should be a page set up for every single member of congress, both reps and senators, plus one for president.

These pages would be for Americans to sign up and should say something like....I WILL NOT SUPPORT OR VOTE FOR THIS (rep, senator or president) AGAIN AND WILL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO INSURE HE/SHE IS NOT RE-ELECTED.

It should have a space for name and town/state.

Is there any way to get something like this going?

It would be interesting to see the reaction of these fools as they see voters lining up against them.

To be effective, I agree that the Tea Party can't be a one day event after which everyone goes home, and resumes the routine of email, faxing, calling, signing on line petitions, and figures we've shown them a thing or two so back to business as usual.

We can't stop doing those other things of course, but with the current government in place, what worked in the past is not going to work now because they have shut us out. Emails and faxes are going right to the trash, phone calls are being transferred to answering machines so no one has to listen to complaints, people are being hung up on, told not to call because no one is interested in hearing their opinion, being threatened with arrest, etc.

This is WHY it has now become necessary for us TO take to the streets to begin with and once you have taken it to that level, there is no stopping or turning back if we plan to turn this mess around.

That being said, however, remember that tomorrow is not the first manifestation of Tea Parties. There have been many in the past several weeks....tomorrow is just the biggest and most symbolic because it's being held on Tax Day. I can't see the momentum dwindling.....especially as things get worse.......but other strategies will also most likely emerge.

I like the idea of a website such as the one you suggest. Even if it doesn't concern the pols, it would provide the perfect opportunity for people to stay....or become....empowered and involved, realize that they are not alone in their feelings and/or opinions, etc.

Next, we need to find candidates to vote for by encouraging specific people to run for office. Look around and find them. Join political parties because that's what we have to deal with. Talk to the heads of the political parties til you're blue in the face and get others to do the same until they lend their support to that candidate. Donate to the candidates. Write Letters to the Editor about the candidate. Talk to your family, friends, and neighbors about the candidate. Bombard the incumbent with e-mails of what you're doing and why.

Without this, we have the TEA parties and wind up in the voting booth with the same old selections.

I am unable to attend but plan to phone all my representatives' offices - local, state and federal - just to say "I'm TEA'd".
