By Scot Kersgaard | 07.08.11 | 12:58 pm
Congressman Jared Polis today called for the inclusion of comprehensive immigration reform in any negotiated package presented to Congress to raise the debt limit and cut the deficit. In a letter to President Obama and Speaker Boehner, Polis outlined how he thinks immigration reform could increase federal revenues by billions of dollars, helping to close the budget deficit.

Ohh yah, I'm all for immigration reform now. A whole extra $5 billion or so in taxes? That really helps cut down on the hundreds of billions a year spent on illegal aliens at only the federal level....
Ohh wait, maybe instead of raising revenue they should instead look at cutting costs. Cut out all costs to illegal aliens and we save how many hundreds of billions? Stop the healthcare, welfare, court hearings, long deportations, housing, education, and even inmates in prison. Deport every single one of them 24 hour turnover from time caught to time out of country. Then use a fraction of those savings to secure the border with the National Guard and militarize it.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office scored the bi-partisan 2007 comprehensive immigration reform bill that was proposed in the Senate as increasing federal revenues by $15 billion over the 2008-2012 period and by $48 billion over the 2008-2017 period.
The Center for American Progress (CAP) is a liberal progressive political "leftwing think tank",[1] a tax-exempt 501c activist group headquartered in Washington D.C.
The CAP says they are "dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through ideas and action". In reality, it's a secret "brain trust" within the Democratic National Committee and developed specifically to promote Democrat ideas and candidates.
