CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An accused wrong-way driver caught speeding on a main street in Charlotte is on his way out of the country.

Police arrested Jose Aguilar on Sunday morning and charged him with drunken driving. Aguilar, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, is accused of being Charlotte's latest wrong-way driver.

Police arrested him driving outbound in the inbound lanes on Monroe Road Sunday morning. They said he was going up to 90 mph for nearly five miles while his blood-alcohol level was more than two times over the legal limit.

Officers were able to stop him near McAlpine Creek Park. Aguilar was immediately taken to jail and is now on his way back to his home country.

Authorities said Aguilar was arrested in Mecklenburg County on suspicion of DWI in 2004.

Hip-Hip-Hooray! At least this one is being deported before he kills someone while driving drunk. However, he should have been gone the first time he was arrested in 2004.

Hey he was probably on his way to church.

No matter, he'll be back within two weeks after a short visit with family.
