Tea party activists may not be as helpful to Republican candidates in November Congressional elections as the party hopes.
That’s the upshot of a new poll from Quinnipiac University.
Respondents said that without a tea party candidate on the ballot, they would vote 44 to 39 percent in favor of Republicans over Democrats.
But if there’s a tea party candidate on the ballot, the numbers go like this: 36 percent for Democrats, 25 percent for Republicans and 15 percent for tea party candidates.

It depends. The Republicans like McCain think they are the people's friend just by opposing socialists and may ride that into office. The next election will be about individual candidates, their principles, and their records methinks.

Too many GOPers support BLANKET AMNESTY, with all his many faults McCain would have won had he not supported AMNESTY and OPEN BORDERS.

State GOP Considers Blocking Independents

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Republican Party is considering closing their primary elections to independent voters.
The party committee directed the state party chairman in January to explore the costs and legal options for making the move.
"Some folks in the party think the best way to ensure the Republican brand means something is to ensure that only Republicans are voting in our primary," said Lee Miller, an attorney for the state GOP.
In Arizona, independent voters can vote in either the Republican or Democratic primary.
If the Republican primary is closed, it could hurt Sen. John McCain who is renowned for his appeal to independent voters.
A McCain campaign representative said the senator is confident that he has enough support from Republican voters to win his re-election bid even if the primary is closed.
McCain's primary opponent, J.D. Hayworth, also downplayed the potential ramifications of a closed primary.
"I really think it's a wash I'm gonna be running hard no matter who's allowed to vote in the primary," said Hayworth.
Arizona's Libertarian Party already has a closed primary.

The Tea Parties never were about partisan political parties. They will vote for whoever best fits the job as Americans. Will uphold American values and work to get us out of this unConstitutional mess we've been thrown into.
So the Tea Parties never were about the Republican Party. If they don't like it, too f******* bad. They can go sit on it and rotate for all I care.
They've betrayed me worse than the dems. I was in there pitchin' for the republicrats for the last 30 years.
If they want me back on their side, they better figure out if being on my side and every other American. Instead of the money masters.

The only reason McCAMNESTY was the GOP Presidential nominee the last time was because dems and so called independents crossed over and voted for him knowing they would never vote for him in the general election against a dem.
