Then on the other hand, maybe we simply need to improve upon the social security card. You know, bring it out of the shadows sort of speak! Get rid of that flimsy paper card and make it like a drivers license.

Add a picture, date of birth, address and make people go in and renew them every 5-10 years. If you move, it's your responsibility to go to your local SS office and update your info. Just like you would be required to go to your local DMV to renew your drivers license.

Newborns and minors, not yet in the workforce, could still be issued the less-secured paper version ss cards. However, they would be required to update to the more secure version when they entered the work force. The paper cards would not be valid for securing work in this country. Employers who accept the paper versions would be subject to serious fines or loss of license.

This combined with E-Verify might work wonders!

You can call it whatever you want John Doe. I call it a social security card with a picture on it! Better yet, make it just like a passport. You wouldn't need the address if that bothers you.
