    On Tuesday, Catawba County Sheriff David Huffman met with the sheriffs of Alexander, Burke and Caldwell, all of which agreed apply for a program that would help detect and remove illegal immigrants that have committed crimes in the United States.

    Huffman is concerned about crime in Catawba County. He believes the 287G program, which was detailed in the corresponding section of the Immigration and Nationality Act, is designed to give state and local governments the authority to remove illegal aliens that have a criminal history.

    “There is no question the crime rate will go down (if we get the program),â€
