The 1986 Immigration Law didn't "FAIL"
The fact is that the immigration bill known as the "Simpson-Mazzoli Act" did not fail as the President and some Senators say. The bill was a total success and it did exactly what the authors of the bill hoped that it would do. It legalized millions of illegal aliens, it brought in millions more who also demanded to be legitimized, and it took the issue of illegal immigration off the headlines for over 15 years. On top of that it required every American to prove their identity when applying for a job (shades of a national id card).
Now here we are almost 20 years later and we are dealing with the legacy of that bad bill. The politicians claim that they were as surprised as we were that the immigration problem got worse. "How could we know that this would happen?", they ask. Well they did know and so did a majority of Americans at the time. They went ahead anyway and shoved that piece of garbage down our throats, just like they are trying with this latest bill.
So what do they propose to do about illegal immigration? Legalize millions of illegal aliens, bring in millions more who will demand to be legitimized, and this time force a national id card on us.
Are they stupid or do they think we are?Lunarminer
Thar's gold in that there moon!
