    Alexander Statement on DACA

    Posted on September 5, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 5, 2017 - U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement on President Trump's decision to end the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program:

“Just as President Nixon went to China, President Trump uniquely can lead a revision of our immigration laws that secures our borders, improves our system of legal immigration and solves problems such as the 800,000 children who grew up here, but were brought here illegally. I voted for such a law in 2013 and am willing to work with the president to do that again.”

In 2013, Alexander voted for the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013 which would have dramatically strengthened border security, ended de facto amnesty and helped fix our legal immigration system. The legislation would have allowed law abiding children who were brought into the U.S. illegally to apply for legal permanent resident status if they earned a high school diploma and completed at least two years of college or honorably served in the military for four years. The U.S. Senate passed the legislation, but the bill was not considered by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Obama issued some long statement. His effort to fundamentally transform America continues.

(Most of the illegal aliens do know another country. Most young children remember their home and family. Just talking point to cover for millions.)

    (DACA is a dead duck.)
WHAT?!? How do you get that from this:

“President Obama wrongly believed he had the authority to re-write our immigration law. Today’s action by President Trump corrects that fundamental mistake.

“This Congress will continue working on securing our border and ensuring a lawful system of immigration that works.”
There is nothing special to read here and there certainly isn't anything that would indicate the U.S. Senate won't consider an amnesty for all DACA members and those eligible for DACA.

DACA is far from dead. Heck, Trump just tweeted today that he would revisit DACA in six months if the U.S. Congress hasn't delivered a DACA amnesty bill to his desk in that amount of time. His pen is in hand and he is ready to protect those "great" kids.

LOL!! Yeah, I know. I don't understand why he won't shut up and go organize his armies to take out the nuclear weapons in North Korea. This rambling about these awful DACAs makes no sense at all unless it is as you say, he's intrigued with the challenge of getting a bill through Congress that Obama couldn't get through. Why would he destroy his Presidency on such a lark? Makes no sense, unless it's a distraction of some type, look at me here, while I'm over there. Befuddling, it really is.

As for DACA, in my opinion, it's dead. Steve King said it would be Republican suicide, it would be, and most Republicans in Congress know that.
