Thread: Previously Deported Child Rapist Captured Re-Entering Texas

A previously deported child molester Mexican national was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents while attempting to cross the border back into Texas. He had previously been deported after being convicted of sexual assault of a child in Houston.

A convicted sex offender was tracked down and arrested by Border Patrol agents working out of the Eagle Pass station on Monday. Vidal Gomez-Soto, 29-years-old, was picked up by agents on patrol along the Rio Grande River, according to a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas.

While running his name and fingerprints, a red flag popped up showing that Gomez-Soto had been convicted of sexual assault of a child between the ages of 14 and 17 in Houston in 2009. Gomez-Soto was sentenced to two years in prison where he served one year, and was then deported in May, 2010.

A news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) division of the Department of Homeland Security reports that Gomez-Soto now faces a charge of illegal re-entry after deportation – 8 USC § 1326 – which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, and his prior order of removal will be reinstated.

In the first four months of the 2016 fiscal year, the Del Rio Sector of CBP has arrested 10 previously deported sex offenders, the most recent one last week, as we reported in Breitbart Texas.

The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations. During FY 2016, to date, Del Rio Sector agents have apprehended 10 previously deported sex offenders.

“Our agents are committed to keeping our communities safe,” sector supervisor, Rodolfo Karisch said in the press statement, “The apprehension of convicted sex offenders is one of the many ways we accomplish this goal.”
