EAGLE — An illegal immigrant was sentenced to 16 years to life in prison Wednesday for raping his girlfriend at knifepoint, said Eagle County Assistant District Attorney Karen Romeo.

Jorge M. Valdez, 25, was ordered to pay $4,600 in fines and will be eligible for parole after 16 years, Romeo said.

“This is definitely one of the higher sentences, as it should be, given the nature of the offense,â€

This is more money that the middle class if forking out because of illegal immigration. If the borders were shut this guy would not even be here. Add up the costs of entering illegaly, the social services he gets, the free health care, free education terroriszing someone, court costs and now prison? All this for one illegal immigrant? No wonder we are losing ground.

Now was the girlfriend also an illegal? If she is she'll probably end up with a green card as a "crime victim".

Don't forget that when crime victims (from other countries) testify they get to have their families come to the US-for comfort-and everyone gets a free pass to be Americans-From what I can tell.

Valdez, an illegal immigrant who had been deported, returned after hearing his girlfriend had dated other men, Romeo said.

Valdez terrorized the woman with a knife for 12 hours May 15 and 16, 2006, and raped her when she told him she had dated other men, Romeo said.

A jury found Valdez guilty of sexual assaultl with a deadly weapon and menacing with a deadly weapon, both felonies, after deliberating for five hours March 21, Romeo said.

Valdez was found not guilty of false imprisonment.

If Valdez is granted parole, he would be supervised outside prison for at least 20 years, said Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert.

Parole would only be granted if psychologists determine Valdez does not pose a threat to society, Romeo said.

In reading this... he will not be deported after his sentance is completed... WHAT ..... or am I confused here
