MANASSAS, Va. -- Police in Prince William County begin enforcing a controversial new immigration policy on Monday.

The policy requires officers to scrutinize suspect's citizenship, even for minor offenses.

Illegal immigrants will also be denied county services under the new policy.

Last week, county supervisors worked on a new budget that included property tax increases to pay for the new enforcement.

Chairman Corey Stewart said he believes residents support the expensive new initiative, even in tough budget times.
