Grijalva rally draws about 250 critical of Ariz. immigration law

About 250 people gathered this morning in the parking lot at Rep. Raúl Grijalva's Tucson office to rally against Arizona's new immigration law.

Rev. John Fife, retired pastor of Southside Presbyterian Church and a founder of the sanctuary movement, was one of about seven speakers scheduled at the rally. Fife urged those in the crowd to have the courage to stand up to ‘this racist law.'

The law signed by Gov. Jan Brewer Friday gives police broad ability to enforce immigration laws. It's been called the toughest law in the nation to combat illegal immigration.

Grijalva has been an outspoken critic of the measure, drawing significant criticism for his call on a boycott of Arizona. On Friday he closed his office early after staffers said they received several threatening phone calls.

The morning rally is the latest in a series of rallies and marches this week in Tucson and Phoenix.

Adelita Grijalva, a TUSD board member and daughter of Rep. Grijalva, called the law unfair. She also said that the American Immigration Lawyers Association canceled its planned convention in Scottsdale.

Great news!! We already have a problem with litter and pollution here in the Valley. Why add to it with a pacel of immigration lawyers?

And just think, if the ones here now decide to just leave in protest, we could probably solve the problem altogether.

Arizona citizens must be sick of these people.

    John 14:27 (King James Version)
It is written,... Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
    Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

I could only imagine. The demonstrations, the riots, the demands, the special interest organizations, the trespassers, the deaths, drug cartels, kidnappings, etc.

Gee...that's going to hurt! Not only does the passing of this law get rid of illegal invaders, but a bunch of immigration lawyers as well!

Sounds like an unanticipated benefit if you ask me!
