My place is around a 10 minute drive to the stadium. We know are experiencing a big thunderstorm at my place and it is most likely raining there as well. The game starts at 7:10 so both the protest and the game are a wash out. I love it.

The thunder has gone but we are having torrential down pours on and off. At 6:52 the sky is dark and looks like the rain will keep coming.

Protesters Rally Outside Marlins/D-Backs Game
Reporting
David Sutta
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
A small group of protestors rallied outside Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens on Friday, May 14, 2010.

The controversial immigration law passed in Arizona is raising passions here in South Florida. The Florida Marlins play the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday evening, and a group of South Floridians protested outside Sun Life Stadium.
The group, which includes the Florida Immigrant Coalition, the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami, the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida, the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Immigration Law Center, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and more, were outside the stadium at 5:30 p.m., about an hour and a half before first pitch, mostly handing out fliers and holding signs.
Protesters are upset over Arizona's new immigration law that makes it a state crime to be in the U.S. illegally and lets police question anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant.
Players for the Marlins had mixed emotions about the protest and the new law in Arizona. "I don't think I want to see all that," said Jorge Cantu. "I already feel bad for my countrymen."
"Yknow I think there's going to be some profiling going on, it's a sore subject," said outfielder Cody Ross. "But I'm on the fence about it..the object behind it is good, but the way they went about it is bad."
Activists nationwide have called for a boycott of Arizona tourism and businesses, including its athletic teams.
Immigration reform groups have said they targeted the Diamondbacks, in part, because the team's owners have supported Republican politicians who backed the Arizona law. The team said in a statement that isn't the case.
"Although D-backs' Managing General Partner Ken Kendrick has donated to Republican political candidates in the past ... Kendrick personally opposes State Bill 1070," the team said. "The D-backs have never supported State Bill 1070 and have never taken political stances."
The stadium protest is part of a broader effort to persuade Major League Baseball Chairman Bud Selig to move the 2011 All-Star Game from its currently scheduled location in Phoenix if the Arizona immigration law has not been withdrawn.
Selig, however, has brushed off calls to move the game. When asked about moving the game, he responded with a defense of baseball's record on minority hiring.
"Apparently all the people around and in minority communities think we're doing OK. That's the issue, and that's the answer," he said. "I told the clubs today: 'Be proud of what we've done.' They are. We should. And that's our answer. We control our own fate, and we've done very well."Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

SPORTS INDUSTRY SHOWS SUPPORT FOR IMMIGRANTS
by Christopher Ponzio
Arizona is the platform for numerous high profile sporting events in the near future, including the 2011 MLB All-Star Game and the 2010 NBA Playoffs. The controversial Arizona federal immigration bill has already made an impact these events. According to The Arizona Republic, the bill makes it a crime for a person to not have immigration documents and empowers law enforcement agencies to question the status of people based on reasonable suspicion. It is possible that these events could be subject to boycott by athletes, coaches, owners and fans alike.
San Diego Padres all-star first basemen Adrian Gonzalez told Tom Krasovic of AOL Fanhouse that he will not play in next year’s All-Star Game if the law is in effect. “I’ll support the Players Association 100%,â€Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at https://eepurl.com/cktGTn

I am sick and tired of people looking at this as it is against my ethnic group. There is alot of that out there. I admire thsoe hispanics who have sense and realize that what illegals are doing is wrong and say so. Many of those are legal immigrants and are well aware that there are plenty of greencards availible and many countries can participate in the greencard lottery so there is no need to be illegal.
Good news Arizona is winning the game 4-0 at the top of the 7th.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

[b]Guillen went on to add, “And this country can’t survive without (illegal immigrants). There are a lot of people from this country who are lazy. We’re not. Prove me wrong. A lot of people in this country want to be on the computer and send e-mails to people. We do the hard work. We’re the ones who go out and work in the sun to make this country better.â€As Aristotle said, “Tolerance and apathy are the first virtue of a dying civilization.â€
