Legislators to announce bill dealing with illegal immigration
December 15, 2007

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Two state legislators plan to introduce anti-illegal immigration legislation.

The bill would make it illegal for businesses to hire illegal immigrants. It would also tighten laws on obtaining drivers' licenses.

Representative Peter Palumbo and Sen. Christopher Maselli are introducing the bill in the upcoming legislative session. They have scheduled a Statehouse news conference for Monday.

The legislators say their bill is modeled on Oklahoma's new illegal immigration law.
