Deputy fired after potentially wrongful DUI jailings

Daniel Brock was once praised by Mothers Against Drunk Drivers for his zeal in jailing impaired drivers as a Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy.

But on May 24 he was fired, possibly because of that very aggressiveness he exhibited on the job.

Brock, 38, was let go after an internal affairs investigation found many of the drivers he arrested for being under the influence were not legally impaired.

The audit found that Brock arrested 58 people in one year whose blood-alcohol levels were below .08. A driver can be charged with driving under the influence if the blood-alcohol level is between 0.05 and 0.08 percent, but there must be other evidence of impairment, such as a swerving vehicle.

Brock's response to the firing was that he did not believe a driver had to be at the legal limit to be considered drunk. It remains unclear if Brock plans to appeal his firing.

This is what makes me crazy about illegals. They can drive
without a license, get DUI's and it does not affect their lives.
Here in Florida, DUI's are a money making issue. The cops sit
outside bars,restaurants and arrest the waitstaff, musicians and
all with NO reason other they saw them leave the building. The
consequences for these people are devastating. Most deserve
their DUI, but some do not. They get pulled over for bogus things
like "I could not see your tag well enough" and oh by the way, have you
been drinking tonight. No accident,death,traffic violation....and they
can ruin your life especially if you have never done anything wrong
in your whole life. Women are especially easy here in this state.

I am sick of this whole thing, and yet illegals who have never driven,have no license,no car ins
cause death and destruction just get turned loose, NO punishment,
NO devastation to their lives, No fines , NO jail time.,.....NOTHING.
And the police down here are the final word. Forget a fair trial.

And all the punishment and the classes and the jail time..........NEVER
a minority in any of these. NO minorities....or at least people other
than caucasian. NOT ONE MINORITY IN ANY REHABILITATION OR
ALCOHOL ABUSE CLASSES...until you talk to people about this, they
then go, oh, that's right....I did not see anybody else of any other race.

And this whole issue carries over to the marijuana thing. An illegal
can get caught with less than 500 pounds of stuff in a backpack coming
across the border illegally(500 POUNDS,for gosh sake) and illegally
coming to this country ....and they GET TURNED LOSE. An American
would be in jail for the rest of their life.

Why isn't MADD going after illegals that cause death by driving while
REALLY intoxicated...where are they now.? Do not want to get involved
is my guess. Or maybe they are funded by Soros or LaRaza. Just
arrest more Americans, punish them to the max, put a DUI on their
record that lasts for 75 years but let the illegals go...they are just poor
people trying to make a living. But let's arrest Americans with SS#'s.

Sorry for the rant, but I live in this sorry state of Florida. I have seen
too many lives ruined by this...with NO justification. There should be
levels put on DUI or else start PROHIBITION again because then the
punishment would fit crime.

Sounds to me Americans who get charged with a DUI should charge the government with "Discrimination based on national origin", because Americans are treated more harshly than non-American (illegal aliens).

Probably one of the reasons that the cops leave the illegals alone is that the drug smugglers have bought up all the politicians. If you want to cleanup the corruption, the first step is to elect politicians who are not on the take. I know that it may be hard to find good people who are willing to put themselves out there and run for office. It can be done though.

Once the politicians change then the cops might change.

What does this story have to do about race. Nothing in the article mentions race?

You are right...this story has nothing to do with race but the quote above
does. Just shows the difference between policing Americans and policing
illegals.
