Police: So. Sioux stabbing may be gang related

8:36 PM

SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Police say a stabbing that injured a South Sioux City man this week may be gang related.

Police were called at 2:15 p.m. Thursday to the 200 block of West 17 Street, where they found a man stabbed four times with a knife and another man suffering from assault.

Officers said the victims were walking down the street when three Hispanic men drove up in a green, four-door car thought to be a Pontiac Grand Prix, jumped out and assaulted the two men. The suspects then fled the scene.

South Sioux City police Chief Scot Ford said the unhelpfulness of the victims, whose names authorities have not released, are one reason officers suspect gang involvement.

"The victims in this case are extremely uncooperative," Ford said. "They don't want to offer any information at all -- that's generally an indicator."

Anyone with information about the incident can call the South Sioux City Police Department at (402) 494-7555.
