NATIONAL CITY — Police have obtained an arrest warrant for 22-year-old sexual assault suspect who evaded capture yesterday by jumping off a third-floor balcony.

National City police say Anthony David Correa sexually assaulted and choked a woman on East 18th Street near Euclid Avenue in National City on July 8.

Yesterday, detectives went to arrest him at an apartment complex on Fenton Parkway near Friars Road in San Diego, but Correa resisted and fled. Additional officers from San Diego and National City sent to the area were unable to locate him.

One detective suffered minor injuries during the incident.

Police say Correa is known to frequent the National City address. He is also on on federal probation for alien smuggling.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
