The part they never tell you that is in this case , the parents were LAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE COUNTRY
The 1989 case is why you have foreigners legally landing on U.S. soil for 3 months (2 months for the final gestation of pregancy and 1 month recovery) There is even a company that specializes in this accommodation! Then they leave with the newborn This new "little American citizen" gets to come back later at legal age and claim his citizenship in this country. Canada has this provision in their citizenship law. At least they forbid the gateway for the parents excuse and rational to have the right to residency upon the birth of the kid. Giving birth in Canada does not confer any rights or privileges to the parents. That is a far cry from what we are stuck with the way things are here.

I have NO PROBLEM with "immigrant babies" being given US citizenship. What I DO have problems with are ILLEGAL ALIENS that waddle across the border when their contractions are three minutes apart LOOKING TO CASH IN OUR ALL OF OUR social programs.

The citizenship rule which espouses jus soli ("right of the soil") was intended for the children of SLAVES, brought here AGAINST THEIR WILL, following the emancipation of those same slaves!

Even persons of limited intelligence/education can see that the jus soli rule NOW simply lines up four 7's on the Rio Grande "slot machine". They DO, and use it as their whole damned family's ticket to ride the welfare train.

It makes no more sense to retain this antiquitated "citizenship" rule than it does to call ILLEGAL ALIENS "immigrants"!
