Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman recently vented his disgust and frustration at the graffiti that plagues the cityÃÂ*s newly installed freeways and neighborhoods. Mayor Goodman said exactly what a majority of law-abiding citizens are thinking but are afraid to say out loud. The law-abiding community undoubtedly secretly applauded his ‘get-tough’ comments concerning the vandals who show no respect for public or private property. The liberal media was stunned and the ACLU probably had a near heart attack when they heard of the mayor’s comments.

Mayor GoodmanÃÂ*s suggestion to cut off thumbs and hold public floggings of these petty criminals is considered extreme by American standards of jurisprudence. However, so is the destruction and desecration of our cities and communities by juvenile and some not so juvenile taggers and their families who have no loyalty to the country, the city and the community.

Mayor Goodman accomplished one important goal with his tough talk. He got the attention of the media, particularly the liberal media, who fell into the trap and while expressing their sympathetic outrage for the criminals, gave Goodman the publicity he needed to focus public opinion on the problem.

Mayor Goodman certainly has no intention to act on his suggestion to remove thumbs or administer floggings but he is right about one thing. The petty criminals, mostly juveniles who defile the community, must be dealt with promptly and harshly. Now that the issue has been raised, Mayor Goodman must now ensure that these petty criminals are identified, arrested and severe penalties inflicted on these “domestic terrorists� by the courts. This petty criminal activity must not be allowed to flourish in Las Vegas or dire consequences will be felt across the community.

If the Mayor is unsuccessful in getting his point across, the defiling of the city will escalate, property values will drop across the city and the city will take on a third world slum appearance. Crime rates will increase as the gangs fight to mark their “turf�. The end result will be a marked downturn in tourism and all of Las Vegas will suffer.

In recent years, Las Vegas has become a family oriented city with entertainment for families. Who will bring their family to visit a gang infested city that has the appearance of some third world slum.

Now lets get down to what is really happening with this defacing of Las Vegas. Who and what segment of Las Vegas society is responsible for this blight on the city? I might add that this problem is far from being unique to Las Vegas. The graffiti vandalism problem is expanding across the nation and is particularly visible in the Southern Border States where rapid growth is taking place and where there is unchecked illegal immigration. I am not implying that all graffiti and tagging is done by Hispanics or Latinos. Far from it! However the majority of it is and it appears to be culturally ingrained in the younger generation and is perpetuated by poverty, hopelessness and ultimately gang membership and gang peer pressure.

The poor areas of most of our cities across the nation have always had the problem, particularly in the Hispanic or Latino communities. It should be noted that in the 2000 U.S. Census, people of Hispanic ethnicity comprised the second highest (23.6 percent) of the population of Las Vegas and surrounding area. Today, however, because of the recent rapid growth of Las Vegas and the surrounding area there has been a major shift in the multiculturalism of the city. The Hispanic and Latino population has sharply increased because of the demand for cheap labor by the construction, hotel, food, and services industries. This rapid expansion and the willingness of un-American employers to capitalize on the immediate cheap labor served as a magnet for and opened the flood gates to Las Vegas for illegal aliens coming from Mexico, Central and South American countries.

These new slaves of America’s elite are gathered in enclaves within the city where English is rarely spoken and poverty abounds. Most of these people are here for the simple reason that their country cannot provide jobs for them. Unscrupulous un-American employers capitalize on this and exploit this cheap illegal alien labor base simply to increase their profits. The contingent social problems and resulting economic burdens, which result from the uncontrolled illegal alien influx, is shifted from the employers to the community and its taxpaying citizens.

Many of these people and their children have no desire to assimilate into American society or are unable to because of the language barrier. They gather in enclaves of their own nationalities and maintain their loyalty only to their countries of origin. Because of the language barrier of the parents, their children tend to follow in their parents’ footsteps and many remain illiterate in the English language. As they mature, those that find themselves unable to compete in the well paying job market must accept the menial labor jobs and are at the mercy of unscrupulous employers that plagued their parents. Their children are doomed to repeat their parents’ lives of drudgery and poverty at the hands of criminal American exploiters. Consequently, this younger generation finds solace and a feeling of belonging in a gang environment. As they enter this environment, they lose that critical connection to American society and become destructive in their desire to be noticed.

There seems to be some misguided cultural belief in these enclaves that sees this vandalism of public and private property as an “art form�. There is a huge difference between “graffiti art� and “tagging graffiti�. In this writer’s opinion, graffiti art is and can be an art form of great cultural significance when it is done with that in mind and in a private or approved public setting. Some graffiti art, as with all art, is beautiful and requires a great talent to produce. Tagging and “marking turf� graffiti on public and private property is not art! Tagging and marking turf requires no talent, is destructive and shows outright disrespect for the community and it’s citizens.

As the breach widens between the haves and have-nots, the economy slows and demand for this cheap labor declines, cities like Las Vegas, which have a high illegal alien population, already at or below the poverty level, will see an increase in graffiti problems. As the poverty crisis deepens, younger people will turn to the streets. One might conclude that even though Mayor Goodman is upset over the graffiti problem in his city, he, the city caretakers, employers and builders of the new Las Vegas, who welcomed the cheap foreign labor with open arms, will ultimately reap what they sowed!

As distasteful as this is, I will go Mayor Goodman one better. When all is said and done, there should be some thumbs cut off or some floggings in a public setting for all Americans to see on television. The people that deserve this punishment are Bush and his Cabinet and the rest of the politicians (Democrats and Republicans) who have been sitting on their thumbs instead of addressing illegal immigration for the last five years. Maybe if they were threatened with this form of punishment, they would see to it that existing United States Immigration Laws are enforced!

They know how to deal with such matters involving hands and limbs. Very swift, no fuss, no muss. Horrible by our standards but in the case of the Bush Boys and their Cronies that have created this nightmare for our country Saudi Justice would just be Punishment That Meets the Crime!!

Didn't GW, alias the Wackident, exert some Capital Punishment down there in Texas when he was Governor of the People there, you know some of that Texas Justice?

Yes Judy I agree. All the politicans that supported this garbage should have their citizenship revoked and deported to Saudia Arabia or some remote Crapistan and that's after all of their assets have been ceased so they can't buy their way out of trouble.

YES YES YES cease the assets of the globalists and give them back to the Americans they have exploited and hurt. Lord only knows how many that is. Then the globalists should be expelled from this country for good. Maybe we can put them on some remote Island where they can just stay and kill each other off. We can put them there with all the illegal aliens and radical muslims and then they can have all the diversity their little black hearts desire. We can call the Island "Globalist Alcatraz".
