Reid, Pelosi Agree to Move on Immigration Reform This Year

Democratic leaders are pushing ahead with plans to move comprehensive immigration reform legislation this year — even if it means punting on energy legislation until next Congress.

According to Senate Democratic aides, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) agreed during a Tuesday afternoon meeting that a “moral imperativeâ€

Obama called a number of GOP Senators on Tuesday — including Sens. Scott Brown (Mass.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), George LeMieux (Fla.), Dick Lugar (Ind.) and Judd Gregg (N.H.) — to discuss the issue.

Good going, Populist. We need to get to work. These elected officials should know that when non-citizen groups approach them, as they will, that they are no longer dealing with US constituents. Also, that anything connected with Obama will be a loser in their relations with their base support. I think by sticking with official governmental reports and statements we can continue a successful influence with them. Who's next on Obama's arm twisting list? Collins, Snowe, Cornyn, Hutchinson?

You're correct CR. I've read in other articles that Obama is also targeting these four; in fact just this morning I read that Maine senators Snowe and Collins are on their list. So we should add these four to our list to call, fax etc.

And notice that if you read the above article closely, one of the main reasons the Democratic leadership is pushing this is to try to help Reid in his tough reelection campaign.

And we wonder why Americans are cynical about politics...

This is sickening.

BIG QUESTION:
What will be the payoffs to the vote switchers? Obama and Reid have proven they use bribes to get votes. Already careers have been lost over them.

These TRAITORS will stop at nothing to overturn our laws against the past and ongoing invasion of illegals. It will never stop and they will never stop lying. They are no better than the demanding pushy illegal alien supporters! They are classic perpetrators and cowards. We cannot have these people in our government anymore.

NO COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM UNTIL OUR BORDERS ARE IMPENETRABLE!

Would the waffling Rep. senators be swayed by the argument that an amnesty will almost guarantee they remain a permanent minority Party? I don't think an amnesty rejection consigns Dems to the scrap bin, though. All they have to do is wait for the next excesses of big corporations or for renewed talk of privatizing Social Security! The moderate middle voters are becoming mad as ANTS!
