PHOENIX (AP) -
Versions of two illegal immigration bills rejected last year by the Arizona Senate have been reintroduced for possible consideration this year.
One bill would require the state to collect school district data on numbers of students who are illegal immigrants.
The other would require hospitals to notify immigration authorities if patients without insurance cannot provide proof of legal status.
Both bills are sponsored by Republican Sen. Steve Smith of Maricopa.
Versions were among five illegal immigration measures rejected last March by the Senate.
Business groups had urged state lawmakers to take a timeout on the controversial illegal immigration issue after the 2010 enactment of an enforcement law known as SB1070.
This year's version of the school data bill omits a provision to withhold funding of districts that don't cooperate.

Doe ruling it clearly states that giving free education to IAs wouldn't be a burden to taxpayers because their numbers were so few. That may have been true then but definitely not now.One bill would require the state to collect school district data on numbers of students who are illegal immigrants.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
