A two-man cleaning crew working three different Chandler Walgreens stores this week were doing more than buffing the floors. The men were walking out each night with cartons of cigarettes stashed in their floor buffing machines, police said.

According to a police report, Raymondo Victorino-Tellez and Sergio Javier Yanez-Sampayo were cleaning the floors at the Walgreens at 55 E. Ray Road on Monday, 1985 E. Chandler Blvd. on Tuesday and 1925 W. Chandler Blvd. on Wednesday. Each night between 10:30 and 11 p.m., the pair cleaned the floors, stuffed between 10 and 14 cartons of cigarettes into the machine and then left, according to Chandler police.

In each case Yanez-Sampayo acted as a lookout, police said, while Victorino-Tellez hid the smokes.

After being advised of their rights, police say the pair admitted they took the cigarettes and then sold them on the street for $20 a carton.

All three incidents were captured on store surveillance video.

Yanez-Sampayo was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting. Victorino-Tellez was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and trafficking in stolen property.
