In Fla., there were strict laws on real estate agents and rental agents against trying to steer segments of the population into a racially suitable neighborhood. Proving that the case, and kiss your license goodbye. But as a rental agent you have the responsibility to know to whom you are renting, not just the folks who have first, last and security deposit up front. The rental agent also has a responsibility to protect the property for that owner.
And on a lighter note: I thought we needed more job creation, but now there are unemployed prostitutes, perhaps in need of a bailout?

ca and ri had passed these laws .Of course you will get in trouble by profiling , the human rights act deals with discrimination and not legal status . We are trying to have the city approve the legality of all renters ,checked by the SS database,
and anyone wanting to live here has to fill out the rental application .
    Thanks for the info .

As i said, when my old computer died, a huge amount of research was lost. That however does not erase it from my memory. I had found a number of cases about a year ago regarding this. When I tried to redo weeks of research in less than an hours time, this is what I found. Sorry I am unable to provide links at this time

So should landowners check references or employment? So an employer can use E-Verify but a landlord cannot, this is a bit odd.
