Holding employers accountable, and imposing harsh penalties against those that deliberately hire illegal aliens is the best way to stem the flow of those aliens who are sneaking into the United States.

Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill says Springfield's proposed E-verify measure which would have employers check the work status of a prospective new worker is a start.

She says the best way to keep aliens from flooding this country is to "throw the book" at companies that knowingly hire illegal aliens.

McCaskil says they don't cross the border for a vacation, they come here looking for work.
