Thread: Replies to ‘sanctuary cities’ letter trickle in to Justice

Earlier this year, Attorney General Jeff Sessions sent letters to several jurisdictions asking that they produce proof that they are communicating with federal authorities about undocumented immigrants or risk losing grant funding.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said Tuesday that the Justice Department has heard back so far from three.

The letters were sent as part of the president and the attorney general’s promised crackdown on so-called “sanctuary cities.” At the time, the Justice Department said it had sent nine letters; Rosenstein said Tuesday it has sent 10.

Rosenstein said New Orleans; Clark County, Nev.; and the state of Connecticut have certified they were in compliance with the law. That, in many ways, is unsurprising. Officials in every city said at the time the Justice Department released the letters that they believed they were in compliance with the law.

Hopefully, the DOJ can get back to dealing with illegal immigration that is destroying our country instead of the alleged "Russian interference with the 2016 election" that had no impact.
