The sponsors of the DREAM Act inserted what they clearly considered boob bait for patriotic Americans — a provision that qualifying illegal aliens (came before age 16, here at least five years, have a high school diploma or GED) could convert to permanent status and get a green card if they served two years in the military (as an alternative to two years of college). Just today, Clifford Stanley, the Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, told reporters that DREAM is a “commonsenseâ€

I believe only the gang members will join the military in order to get combat training they can use later on.

Also this law is for Schemers up to the age of 35. Does the military even accept people that old? And who goes to collage when they are that old.

There are programs that accept older recruits, IIRC. But to me that's beside the point, because the number of people who'll actually enlist because of this is so miniscule as to be statistically insignficant. Krikorian is absolutely right about this.
