Mexican President Vicente Fox told radio listeners in his country that the idea of an amnesty for illegal aliens in the U.S. is dead – at least for a time.

Fox said President Bush advised him of the political realities of passing his "comprehensive immigration reform plan" this year during a flight from St. Petersburg, Russia, to Madrid, Spain. Congress will shortly be adjourning until the November election.

Fox said Bush "pointed out that this period is very short, there are only two or three weeks before Congress members go on the election campaign. So the chance of the immigration issue reaching approval in the House of Representatives and reaching join approval isn't very high."

A White House spokesman acknowledged Bush made the comment to Fox, but said that doesn't mean the president won't be back promoting his immigration plan before the end of the year.

I hope that stops them from coming in but I doubt it. It might make it worse. I saw a car load of people the other day and the second car had Mexican plates.

    My personal opinion -

Dead for now, until after the election.

    After 9/11 --

I thought for sure this President's push for amnesty was dead.

I thought for sure this President would see the danger in allowing anyone and anything to come across our borders.

I thought for sure this President would realize that we needed to get a handle on who was in this country and clean out those that were here without permision.

I thought for sure the American people would rise up and demand those things be done.

I was wrong and amnesty was just put on the back burner to simmer and get stronger and stronger. He was continuing his plan for amnesty and his 'union'.

So don't let down your guard - we will face this thing again, after elections.

I wouldn't bet on that. I think this is just more of the standard disinformation campaign to put the public back to sleep.

Once the grifters get back into town after their August vacation, expect to see the Pence amnesty plan move into high gear.
It's like hell vomited and the Bush administration appeared.

It won't slow them down at all. Actually, it'll give the ones not here yet more time to pack and get across the desert. That is why are border must be secured now!
