    Exclusive: Arrested illegal immigrant identified
    Updated: April 16, 2008 11:54 AM EDT

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A suspected illegal immigrant could be forced to leave the country after presenting a fake ID at the state contractor's office.

Police identify the suspect as 31-year-old Mario Chirinos, of 96 Priscilla Avenue, Providence. They arrested him Tuesday after a worker in the state contractor's office was prompted to call them after she noticed the license Chirinos presented did not have a state seal and became suspicious.

When the worker called police, Chirinos produced a second ID with a different name, address and date of birth. That ID was a Rhode Island operator's license in the name and date of birth of Effrain Tarquino, age 34, of 364 Academy Avenue, Providence.

During an interview with the suspect, Chirinos told the state police that he was a citizen of Bolivia and was attempting to obtain a contractor's license to install carpeting.

Police also found a fictitious Rhode Island ID card in the name of 29-year-old Chirino Mario, a, Social Security Card in the name Efran Tarquino, and Permanent Resident Alien Card in the same name with a different date of birth. He was then taken in to custody.

According to state police, the suspect told them he had entered the United States illegally through Mexico and is a citizen of Bolivia.

Chirinos was charged by state police on the charges of identity fraud and filing a false document. He was arraigned at state police barracks and posted a surety bail of $5,000.00.

He was then released to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement where he was transported to the Wyatt Detention Center.
