Nogales CBP Officers Seize 5 Tons of Marijuana

TUCSON, Ariz. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Mariposa Commercial Facility arrested a tractor-trailer driver Wednesday at the Port of Nogales after discovering more than 10,000 pounds of marijuana in a shipment of vacuum pump parts.

CBP officers working with a narcotics-detection canine discovered the marijuana, worth an estimated $5.04 million, and arrested a 23-year-old man from Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. This seizure represents the 8th largest marijuana seizure by officers from CBP’s Tucson Field Office.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicle, and turned the subject over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
