A Mexican national faces deportation after being convicted last week of raping a 15-year-old Felton girl, authorities said.

Victor Gonzales-Ferreira, 23, was taken into custody Tuesday by Detention Removal Officers with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Sussex Correctional Institution.

Gonzales-Ferreira, of High Street in Chestertown, Md., is a citizen of Mexico and was in the United States illegally, officials said.

He entered the country about May 1, 2005, at or near Nogales, Ariz., without inspection and admission by an immigration officer, said Mike Gilhooly, an ICE spokesman.

Gonzales-Ferreira was arrested by state police on July 30 on 10 counts of fourth-degree rape and ordered to have no contact with the teen.

The investigation began after Planned Parenthood in Dover alerted police that the victim was pregnant and the father was 23.

The girl said she met Gonzales-Ferreira in December and described him as her boyfriend.

"He admitted to their relationship and cooperated with police," said Sgt. Joshua Bushweller, a state police spokesman.

Gonzales-Ferreira was convicted Sept. 4 on one count of rape in Kent County Superior Court.

Under federal law, Gonzales-Ferreira is considered an aggravated felon because the crime involves the rape of a minor, Gilhooly said.

Gonzales-Ferreira is being held at the York County Prison in York, Pa., pending deportation to Mexico.
