RIVERSIDE, Calif.,

Feb. 6 Border Patrol officials in the Riverside, Calif., desert seized 280 pounds of marijuana and $1.73 million in cocaine, a report said.

Officials confiscated 54 pounds of cocaine in a white Chevrolet after a drug-sniffing dog alerted officers to the 20 cellophane-wrapped cocaine bundles under its back seat Tuesday, the Riverside (Calif.) Press-Enterprise reported.

A report said the two men driving in the car were apprehended by Drug Enforcement Administration officials.

Border Patrol officials also reportedly found 288 pounds of marijuana valued at $231,000 in a Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped for an immigration check Monday. Police found 12 bundles of marijuana underneath a blanket in the back seat.

A release said the drugs and driver were kept in DEA custody.
