    Rocky Mount Officer Shot In Back Returns Home

    ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- A Rocky Mount police officer is recovering at home from a gunshot wound to the back.

    Police say Flavivo Cerecedo shot Officer B. G. Brown earlier this month near the Cross Creek Mobile Home Park, where he was responding to a call.

    Cerecedo, who investigators say is in the country illegally, is charged with attempted murder.

    Police are offering a $7,500 reward for information leading to his arrest.

    Reward Increases For Capture Of Suspect Who Shot Police Officer

    ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Rocky Mount police hope more money will help catch a criminal.

    The Rocky Mount Police Department has raised its reward to $15,000 for information leading to the arrest of Flavio Cerecedo.

    Investigators believe Cerecedo shot a Rocky Mount police officer earlier this month.

    Officer B.G. Brown was released from the hospital on Tuesday.

    Anyone with information about Cerecedo's whereabouts is asked to contact the Rocky Mount Police Department at (252)-972-1528.

    Suspect In Officer's Shooting Arrested After Mexican Manhunt

    RALEIGH, N.C. -- A man wanted in connection with the shooting of a Rocky Mount police officer was arrested in Mexico, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said on Monday.

    Agents arrested Flavio Alarcon-Cerecedo on Saturday in the Mexican city of Hidalgo, according to an FBI news release issued Monday. The arrest was the result of an intensive manhunt, the news release said.

    Cerecedo was wanted in connection with the Sept. 9, 2005, shooting of Officer B.G. Brown near the Cross Creek Mobile Home Park in Rocky Mount, where Brown was responding to a call.

    Cerecedo, who is charged with attempted murder, is currently being held in Mexico City pending extradition to the United States.
