Santa Fe man accused of having sex with 4-year-old

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A Santa Fe man is in custody for allegedly having sex with a 4-year-old girl.

New Mexico State Police say 43-year-old Martin Soriano remains in the Santa Fe County Jail in lieu of a $250,000 cash-only bond and an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

He reportedly was planning to return to his native El Salvador before he was arrested on Aug. 26.

Authorities say Soriano is being held on suspicion of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, criminal sexual contact of a minor and aggravated indecent exposure.

Police say the girl complained to other family members around Aug. 22 after she had been baby-sat at Soriano's house for the previous three days. The girl's family had the child examined at a hospital.

It's unclear whether Soriano has a lawyer.
