Here is Rubio again trying to put his face in front of conservatives and pretending to be a patriot freedom fighter. He lied to us not just once but over and over again for months when he was promoting the infamous Senate amnesty bill S –744. He was one of only 14 Republicans to vote for it while 32 Republicans voted against it. Those 32 proved to be better patriots than Rubio pretends to be.

If Rubio is able to rehabilitate his political career, it will do great damage to the conservative movement. Cynical politicians will correctly conclude that the conservative movement is full of gullible armatures that can be manipulated by smooth talking hucksters. They will see from Rubio that they can lie and betray and still preserve their political careers. They will have learn from Rubio that all they have to do is refuse to go away and keep telling gullible conservatives what they want to hear.

The continued inclusion of Rubio among conservative leaders is very divisive because Rubio’s apologists are sending a clear message to other patriots that it is not important to stop amnesty. Thus it alienates potential friends and weakens a conservative coalition that is critical to defeat our common liberal enemy.

It is important that conservatives end the political career of Mr. Rubio now and forever.

Patriots, whenever Rubio’s sleazy name shows up on any rightwing blog, denounce him. Don’t let others promote his political survival.

    Rubio vs. Comprehensive Immigration Reform

I’m not sure it has ever happened before that an architect of major legislation in the Senate has basically opposed its passage in the House. But that’s where Marco Rubio is. Breitbart has more on this, getting a statement from Rubio’s spokesman Alex Conant:

“At this point, the most realistic way to make progress on immigration would be through a series of individual bills,” Rubio spokesman Alex Conant said in an email. “Any effort to use a limited bill as a ruse to trigger a conference that would then produce a comprehensive bill would be counterproductive. Furthermore, any such effort would fail, because any single senator can and will block conference unless such conference is specifically instructed to limit the conference to only the issue dealt with in the underlying bill.”

The politics of this aren’t great for Rubio: He has already, rightly, taken a political hit for crafting and promoting the Gang of Eight bill (which probably wouldn’t have gotten out of the Senate without his spirited support); now he is going to take another hit, understandably, for his inconstancy. But his stance marginally strengthens opponents of a conference, and we need all the help we can get.
