More than 4,000 children, from low-income families in Mexico, will get a rare treat on New Year's Day.

They'll be bused to a McDonald's in Nogales for free Happy Meals.

For decades, the owner of that restaurant brought children from across the border to give them toys and food on Christmas Day.

The McDonald's changed owners two years ago.

Now, Gael Sylvia Pullen and her husband host the event on New Year's Day.

Pullen says Thursday will be the only time some of the children will receive gifts this year, because of their difficult circumstances.

In addition to the Happy Meals, the children will get coats, toys, school supplies and fresh produce to take home to their families.
