COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) - Five men have been charged by a federal grand jury Thursday with criminal immigration violations in separate indictments.

U.S. Attorney Kevin McDonald says David Alcaras-Carillo, 21; Ignacio Baizabal-Humilde, 47; Jesus Juarez-Aguilar, 21, all of Mexico, were each charged with illegally entering and remaining in the United States. Manuel Lopez-Chay, 22, of Guatemala was also charged with illegally entering the country with a fifth man, Dimas Centeno-Fuentes, 22, of Honduras, who was charged with illegally re-entering the country after being deported.

The men were encountered by ICE agents in the upstate in separate incidents earlier this year.

The maximum penalty Centeno-Fuentes could receive is a fine of $250,000 and two years in federal prison. The other defendants face a maximum possible sentence of $5,000.00 and imprisonment for six months.

All face deportation after serving any sentence imposed.
