Man killed in crash identified
A man killed in a two-vehicle crash that injured at least three others has been identified as Rosario Mendez Arellano, 58.

The crash happened about noon on Saturday on the 10 Freeway about 380 feet from Cherry Boulevard, according to a Riverside County sheriff's news release.

A Honda was struck by a sport utility vehicle, officials said. The impact caused the Honda to roll, officials said.

Arellano, a native of Mexicali, Mexico, was driving the Honda, coroner's officials said.

Arrests, citations made at checkpoint
A sobriety and driver's license checkpoint held in the area of Air Expressway and Mesa Linda resulted in six arrests and 23 citations.

Of those arrested, three were on suspicion of driving under the influence and three others were found to have warrants out for their arrest, according to a sheriff's news release.

Citations were issued for a number of violations including not having a valid driver's license or not having a child properly strapped into their seat, officials said.

Funding for the grant came from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
