SAN DIEGO, Calif.—U.S. authorities are looking for 8 to 12 people seen entering a storm drain at the world's busiest border crossing in San Diego.
Lauren Mack, a spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says they are sending a robot into the drainage system to search for any individuals. The drainage system connecting Tijuana and San Diego is often used by illegal immigrants to cross the border.

Vince Bond of U.S. Customs and Border Protection says a driver entering the U.S. reported seeing people enter the drain at around 1:45 a.m. Saturday.

The drain is in one of the middle lanes of the 24-lane crossing, where about 40,000 cars enter the U.S. each day.

The storm drain was in a buffer zone between the border and the inspection booth to get into San Diego.
