    Chertoff: Illegal Immigrants 'Degrade' Environment

    Chertoff: Illegal Immigrants 'Degrade' Environment
    September 24, 2008
@ 10:14 am by Hill Staff

Illegal immigrants "degrade the environment," according to Homeland Security Sec. Michael Chertoff, speaking to the Associated Press.

"Illegal migrants really degrade the environment. I've seen pictures of human waste, garbage, discarded bottles and other human artifact in pristine areas," Chertoff told the AP. "And believe me, that is the worst thing you can do to the environment."

Chertoff was defending the need for a "virtual fence" on the border between the United States and Mexico, which he implied would be an environmental boon in border areas. Some opponents say such barriers are harmful to the environment.

Over 150 miles of fence had been constructed through last week, Chertoff said, less than half of the 370 miles of actual fencing Homeland Security hopes to construct.

It is so true, they do make a garbage dump out of the places they are. Right here where I live, I see it all the time. Patio's and decks full of bags of garbage (although we have a dumpster), and junk sitting everywhere, leaving garbage and soiled diapers in parks and along rivers where they go to.

We don't just need a virtual fence, we need a fence and we need these invaders and slovenly people out of our nation.

The only way to save the environment is to get rid of these people.
"slovenly people" I like that. Good name for them.

The large majority of illegal aliens are ignorant on issues involving the environment, especially the ecological impact of human activities, because they lack formal education. Most of us learned the importance of being good stewards to the earth through traditional schooling. Unfortunately many illegals never make it past the sixth grade, some never past the third grade. This has also had a negative impact on their thinking skills.

Note how I avoided the word slovenly.

When we were down by the river one day this summer, there was a family, eating watermelon. After they abruptly left, we looked over to where they had been, and there was rinds all over, along with juice bottles and a few used diapers. The word my husband used was "pigs".

Even the homeless men who frequent that area will clean up after themselves, and even after others too. I had one guy walking by us, older, homeless, and he was mumbling to himself. I though he was mentally disturbed, but he looked at us and shook his head, in his hands was a plastic grocery bag full of garbage. He said "these foreigners are animals, they never clean up after themselves and their kids, their makin' a mess out of the whole place for the rest of us".

I smiled and thanked him for doing that. He nodded and walked away.

If a homeless person has the common sense and desire to keep nature clean and nice, and those who obviously were not brought up here do not, you know it is surely more than just our culture, it is about an allover attitude, it is not something that will change with them either I believe.
