Sheriff raids bread company for hiring illegals
PHOENIX -- Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies have raided a Valley bread company looking for undocumented workers.
The deputies served search warrants late Thursday morning at the Alpine Bread Co. at Southern Avenue and Country Club Drive in Mesa.
The sheriff's office said deputies had received information that the company has been hiring undocumented workers. It said it was looking for 31 suspects who allegedly had used to falsified IDs to get jobs. That is a Class 4 felony.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has conducted numerous raids to enforce the state's employer sanctions law which took effect in 2008, went to the scene of Thursday's raid.
