Employers can learn to avoid violating immigration laws at a workshop with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
The Greater Riverside Employer Advisory Council is the cohost of the workshop, which will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Riverside Development Department Office.
The two-hour session wil cover how to complete employment eligibility verification forms for new workers and how to use the voluntary Basic Pilot Program to check job candidates Social Security numbers electronically. Employers also will hear about the voluntary Image Program. Through the program, participating companies that adhere to a set of stringent employee-verification practices may be exempted from certain random inspections by immigration agents.
The workshops lunch fee is $10, and reservations are being accepted until noon Tuesday.
The Riverside Employment Development Department office is at 1151 Spruce St. Riverside.
