Just over a week after a father of two was stabbed to death in his Maryville mobile home, officials have arrested and charged an illegal immigrant in the slaying.

According to a statement, Georgetown County Sheriff's investigators arrested Antonio M. Borja, 22, Thursday afternoon for the murder of Ernesto Deleon-Simon.Deleon-Simon, 33, was living at S. Fraser Street with his wife and children and several other family members and friends when Borja reportedly approached the home and identified himself as a police officer on Tuesday, Oct. 9.Once the door opened, Borja forced his way inside and demanded that the residents get on the floor. The residents started running to hide in different rooms, but Deleon-Simon did not escape.Although the case is still under investigation, the Sheriff's Office is maintaining that robbery was Borja's motive.A native of El Salvador, Borja has been living at 119 S. Hazard Street illegally for the past two years. During this time, he has been working for Carbajal Construction in Georgetown, according to a statement.

Borja is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
Investigators are unsure if Deleon-Simon is a legal U.S. resident. He and his family came to the United States a few years ago from Guatemala.Deleon-Simon's family is trying to raise money to send his body back to Guatemala for burial.
