Illegal immigration bill affects Pee Dee law enforcement


FLORENCE, SC — An illegal immigration bill passed in a late-night Senate session a week ago in Columbia could have a dramatic impact on law enforcement agencies across the Pee Dee and the rest of the Palmetto State.

Florence Police Chief Anson Shells said his officers are used to complying with new laws and, if this measure is passed into law, his officers would enforce it without any kind of profiling.

“We get new laws all the time from Columbia and we have to enforce them. It takes reasonable suspicion in the first place to stop someone to investigate to even see if a crime has been committed,â€
