SC law targets illegal immigrants going to school
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Dayana Rodrigues graduated in the top 5% of her high school class in 2007 and completed nursing prerequisites at Horry-Georgetown Technical College.
But The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that in January, the college refused to re-enroll the 20-year-old returning student because she is an undocumented immigrant.
The South Carolina Illegal Immigration Reform Act became law in June and, among other measures, banned illegal immigrants from attending colleges and universities that receive state money.
Supporters of the ban feel strongly that taxpayers' money should not fund a school that is educating lawbreakers. Opponents said it's unfair to punish children for their parents' crimes.
South Carolina is the first state to legalize such a ban, although other Southern states have restrictive policies.

Good for SC! I would send my kid there, knowing they are not allowing illegal aliens into their colleges.

Actually, it a deterent to illegal immigration.
Their children will not be given opportunities that belong to Americans, if they come here illegally. That's a consiquence of their behavior.
I really hate these but look, the kids are so smart and it's not their fault people. Those kids would still be so smart in their homeland and going to college there for free, if their parents were not law breakers and working here illegally, and useing fake ID...

How would she even get a nursing job? Nursing requires state licensure! This would have been a travesty to allow her to take a slot in a nursing program that Americans already don't have enough slots for

This nonsense must end and end now.
